i leave you

unconscious clocks
footsteps that follow
nowhere, i
leave you
receipt of his last
gaze, lovers in faded
letters curl and
cease to be flames
the acorn
will not
return to
bough
or bee
to that
cafe
empty flower
those thumbprints that envelope time and its diary of crimes soak and drown in a bathtub’s wet and foam
its ink
bleeds
pleasantly
out, words become streams
let sorrow undo
its tree, those roots
of, hooray that thirst
diminishes, its gilded world piles into rubble and finishes
a figure in its
fugue wades out
into dusk where
black dew is starting to stick
and water fattened
with rain shrieks-
faster tearing at the
blades and homes of holes
pace on by whilst the
moon creaks on over
daubing its paleness
making everything paler
i watch when atoms
fall from their parts,
when love dismantles
like this, closeness departs
over like an arch, or a
suitcase passed up into
the attic, someone’s leaving
thru the dust of their past
that horizon where the
sun sets its prayers, my
route to silence my heart
full of proud autumn oxides
goodbyes simply rusts, feint
in going, forgotten grey roses
and those written cards that
entwine them, thrown
the end of hours isn’t, i
left you, let breezes gather
leafy treasures and take them
by their chlorophyll dresses
do not slope the path
backwards or knit the
fragments into a healed
looking glass, we are all
old colours, trying to re-mend
yesterdays, where a minute
collapses there to be unspoken,
conscious of all clocks that waste
